Wanna help with DubuqueFest?

It takes time, energy, money, and materials to put on a community festival as fun as the non-profit DubuqueFest Fine Arts Festival, a multi-faceted art bash held each year during the 3rd weekend in May.

Three days of terrific art and music, great memories, and fun activities are the result of a whole lot of work and advance planning by dedicated volunteers!

Along with the co-directors, DubuqueFest committee members collaborate on every aspect of the whole wonderful weekend””from booking musicians and selecting artists, to coordinating and promoting the event both online and off, to securing permits and licenses, to drumming up volunteers (you get the idea). Committee members also take on the responsibility of securing funding and donations that keep this event free.

Why do we do it?

Because we love art, culture, and music, and believe that life is richer when everyone has access to it. We do it because we really love Dubuque, our beautiful, historic eastern Iowa home, nestled amidst the scenic bluffs overlooking the grand Mississippi river that inspires us to create and build community through music and art.

DubuqueFest is a community endeavor

The success of DubuqueFest depends upon the support of the community. We need you! Do you have something to offer to the festival? Do you wanna give back to the community, and enjoy a great deal of fun besides? We need your help!

Here’s what’s already been donated to make 2011 DubuqueFest a success:

  • Food and refreshments for the artists
  • Radio air time
  • Graphic design skills
  • Website development and social media content
  • Person hours ”” planning, creating, and communicating

And here’s what we still need:

  • On-site volunteers at the event on May 20-22, to help with set up, staffing of the DCFAS/DubuqueFest info tent, selling beverages and tickets, pouring beverages, waste maintainence, and tear down.

…Whew! I’m tired already! We also need:

  • 10 buckets of sidewalk chalk for the Town Clock community chalk art project
  • Bottled water for artists, bands, and chalkers
  • Gift cards from places like Target, Hy-Vee, Wal-Mart, or hardware stores (to buy trash bags, water, ice, napkins, coffee cups, and general supplies)
  • Brewed coffee for the artist breakfast on Saturday and Sunday (we need a coffee shop to brew and deliver)
  • Someone to document the weekend through photos and video.
  • Stage crew to assist the bands with any of their needs.
  • Golf cart
  • Coolers and ice tubs
